It’s been a long time since I blog and rolled….
Anyhoo, been hella busy. We are putting together a project plan and architecture for a portal project. This is a portal in the 1998 sense of the word, a public B2B destination for a given vertical industry.
I have looked at SharePoint and the licensing doesn’t look to good for a public portal, plus I am not sold on the architecture. DotNetNuke looks OK but kinda kludgy. Rainbow looks neat, but I’ve heard its not ready for primetime. Any suggestions out there?

I agree with you on DNN and Rainbow. There is an interesting portal/web framework in development called Cuyahoga. It, too, isn’t ready for prime time, but worth watching.
Thanks for the info. Looks like an interesting project.
It seems for the long term, a combination between customization and the Whidbey portal classes that are included in the next release of .NET would be the best solution. However, projects like Cuyahoga, DNN, Rainbow, etc. are worth taking a look at if nothing else to get an idea of how to properly architect a portal system if you need one now.
We need one now, can’t wait for Whidbey!
